Pipeline Management

Organize your fundraising stages

Pipeline Management

Your fundraising pipeline is the backbone of your raise. Capvia's pipeline management helps you visualize where every investor conversation stands and move opportunities through stages as your relationships progress.

Pipeline stages

Each investment round has its own set of pipeline stages. Opportunities move through these stages as conversations advance.

How stages work

  • Each stage has a name, color, and position in the pipeline
  • Opportunities start at an initial stage when created
  • You advance opportunities by changing their stage from the opportunity detail view
  • Stage changes are automatically logged in the activity feed

Stage progress bar

Every opportunity shows a visual progress bar indicating where it sits in the pipeline. This gives you an at-a-glance view of how far along each investor conversation is.

Customizing stages

Pipeline stages can be configured per round in the round settings. You can:

  • Add stages that match your specific process
  • Reorder stages to reflect your workflow
  • Color-code stages for quick visual identification
  • Rename stages to use your own terminology

Common stage configurations:

Identified → Outreach → Meeting → Due Diligence → Term Sheet Closed

or more granular:

Research → Warm Intro → First Meeting → Partner Meeting → IC Review → Term Sheet → Legal → Closed

Round overview

The Fundraising section shows all your investment rounds in a table view with:

  • Round name — Click to view the round's pipeline
  • Target amount — How much you're raising
  • Committed amount — Current total committed
  • Status — Pending, In Progress, or Complete

Click into any round to see all its opportunities organized by stage.

Working with opportunities

Creating opportunities

From within a round, click to add a new opportunity:

  1. Search for an existing contact or create a new one
  2. Set the starting stage in your pipeline
  3. Configure investment probability and target amount
  4. The opportunity appears in your pipeline immediately

Updating opportunities

From the opportunity detail modal:

  • Change the stage using the stage selector
  • Update investment probability as conversations progress
  • Adjust target amount based on investor interest
  • Reassign to a different team member
  • Log activity — add notes, emails, or meeting records

Stage transitions

When you move an opportunity to a new stage, Capvia automatically:

  • Updates the visual progress bar
  • Logs the stage change in the activity feed with a timestamp
  • Preserves all previous stage history

Tracking your raise

Round metrics

Each round tracks aggregate metrics:

  • Total opportunities — How many investor conversations are active
  • Target amount — Your fundraising goal
  • Committed amount — Sum of confirmed commitments
  • Status breakdown — How opportunities are distributed across stages

Monitoring progress

To maintain momentum during your raise:

  1. Review regularly — Check your pipeline weekly to spot stalled conversations
  2. Log every interaction — Even brief emails count as touchpoints that keep the activity feed current
  3. Update stages promptly — Move opportunities forward (or mark as passed) so your pipeline accurately reflects reality
  4. Use tags — Tag contacts in your People section to maintain cross-round context

Best practices

  • Create a round before adding investors — This ensures all opportunities are properly associated with your raise
  • Start with broad stages — You can always add more granular stages later as your process develops
  • Use probability estimates honestly — Overly optimistic probabilities make your pipeline misleading
  • Don't ignore passes — Tracking investors who declined helps you understand patterns and refine your approach
